About Lynn Fellman.
When you contact Fellman Studio, you'll talk to me (Lynn Fellman). I’m an independent designer, multimedia artist, and writer.
I specialize in translating complex ideas into art, illustration, and design for print and screen. Read more about my services here.
My focus: visual problem solving for science and business that communicates and educates.
Along with my interest in life science, I also produce interactive design, identity systems, and Flash animation for corporations. Take a look at my creative consulting projects for Genentec, Pearson Education, Exon, and others.
My style: combining art with science for deep meaning and understanding.
Learning how genetics and paleoanthropology reveal the complex story of human evolution renewed my lifelong interest in biology. I found the research inspiring and started working with data from my own DNA and population genetics. The results are the DNA Portraits. Read more about the portraits.
Current work: prehistoric recipes for mixing genes to make a human.
I'm exploring the connections between population genetics and personal genomics for insights into human evolution and health. Some of the research is based on the study of ancient genomes (paleogenomics) that show our shared genetic history with Neandertals and other archaic humans. For AAAS, I wrote a script, narrated, and illustrated a video slide show explaining how we met our closest evolutionary relatives 50,000 years ago. Watch the video.
