The art was commissioned by the BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota. The images and text in the book are also displayed as a companion piece to the commissioned art work. You can see the art and companion piece here.
The BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota (BBAM) writes on their web site:
BBAM wanted the work to act as a unifying symbol for dedicated professionals, students and supporters working in and among the life sciences — to symbolize the entrance into the age of biology and engage people in the ongoing scientific discoveries in the life sciences.
The image depicts DNA as the fundamental link between traditionally separate life science industries and visually narrates the history behind the remarkable molecule.
BBAM intends the image to become an identifiable symbol for stakeholders in the life science community and to complement the intellectual discussions that already exist around the life sciences.
Greeting cards, posters, and smaller, giclee prints of the art work are available for purchase from BBAM.
