The illustrations on the “Bio” notecards are selected images from a large artwork titled “Unwinding the Natural Science and History of Life.” Organelles float in the cytoplasm. Strands of a chromosome unwind, revealing chromatin bundles like beads on a string.
All the elements are parts of one large work of art. The work visually narrates the unwinding of the DNA molecule from the double helix to nucleosomes, chromatin, chromosomes, and into the cell.
That’s me in front of the original, large artwork that is on display in the Genetics and Cell Biology building at the University of Minnesota.
