The illustrations on the Bio notecards are selected images from a large artwork titled Unwinding the Natural Science and History of Life.
The work visually narrates the unwinding of the DNA molecule from the double helix to nucleosomes, chromatin, and chromosomes and into the cell. Organelles float in the cytoplasm. Strands of a chromosome unwind, revealing chromatin bundles like beads on a string.
